I spent some bucks:

Grande acid with skim and whole milk; sugar in the raw
lowfat raspberry muffin

I felt so tired, so I made today my second long run day in a row.
More glamorous than wise, but that is the privilege of youth.

venti soy misto throughout the day (no joke I just finished it at 7:40pm), which I ordered because they always put too much soymilk, and I wind up buying more coffee later somehow. But I also experimented today by ordering coffee with soymilk, and the cashier practically filled the cup with coffee. I felt like being "this was actually a test, I wanted the grande anyway", but the damage was done, and now I am probably over-caffeinated. Ah well :P

Alright so I finished my Matzoh last night haha. That was interesting... while doing laundry last week I kept walking past them, suspecting they contained edibles, I investigated further. Getting closer I recognized the red boxes that people had been carrying all around campus a few months ago- for passover 0_o! These were leftover passover Matzoh sheets, and me being a bit hungry and a lot out of cash (another story) jumped on the opportunity for free eats and snagged a couple of boxes. I munched on them ever since and they were delightfully crunchy, bland stomach-fillers while they lasted :D

I do have a fridge and freezer as of now, but I don't really food shop unless I go to CVS. I have a box of Carnation Instant Breakfast that I got when my box of 60 Swiss Miss ran out (also found in a hallway during moving-out lol), some gross whey protein packs you're supposed to mix in water, multivitamins, fish oil tablets, and probiotic pearls. It tides me over well enough. I tend to eat whatever I have in my dorm within 24 hours so I won't be buying anymore jars of Nutella for a while omfgaww.

I would like a frikkin watermelon one of these days ~_~ rawr. I'd tear that !sh up-- I just need to figure out a way to transport melon from a grocery store haha.

The Bread Pudding

Kay so today I had the best foodgasm I've experienced in recent memory. Once I tell you about my diet lately you may understand, but that isn't to denote my experience in any way, as It was the crowning inspiration for this blog.

I've had another blog for about a year, with scattered posts on random subjects, but I finally feel I have enough initiative and fuel (literally, lolz) for an ongoing commentary. Okay I'm actually getting hungry just thinking about it all but I'll try and concentrate. Yah right; I have some "ADHD", but I'll try to break the "start strong and often" cycle with this blog, becasue DAMN that bread pudding was good.

Oh yeah, that's right-- bread pudding.
Let me tell you the tale:

I woke up today at around 10:30, which was ok, but on the weekdays I would much prefer to be rewarded for the effort of lifting my wrist by seeing a figure on my Nike watch face greater than 11am, since the dining hall in the summer opens at 11:30. Anyway, I remembered that I hadn't been able to stay up to finish watching "Meet Joe Black" online (I didn't have another waiting of "54 minutes or sign up now" in me, so I went to bed around 2 or 3am), so I rolled over to grab my laptop and a couple of Matzoh sheet crackers to tide me over until my MEAL; NOMNOM. I watched the end; tried to cry, then felt dumb because I really didn't find it sad. The acting was pretty darn weak except for Anthony Hopkins who is THE MAN**. After that, I decided to get ready to bring over some course evaluations from my class last night to the psychology department, since the office had--unforeseen by me-- been closed at the time of my class (PB&J BREAK), when my friend IMed me. Not to be rude, I said what's up and told her about my day, until I realized she wasn't responding, got dressed, and logged off.

I brought the evals to the sulking girl in the psych office, then went on my merry way to the dining hall in the overcast weather. When I got to the dining hall, I first grabbed a cup of choffee*** with milk, then walked around trying to find something appetizing. I walked past the dessert bar a few times, and noticed the strange mess in the hot tray. It looked like bread pudding, but was darker. Sipping on my warm milk-chocolaty caffeine I walked closer to inspect, and saw that there was some kind of eggy layer underneath rolls of-- what's that?!-- whole wheat bread!! I pondered if this carb laden goodness was in my tummy's best interest, and my stomach promptly silenced my ambivalence with a "yes."**** So I took a purple dessert plate, piled it with a few substantial curls of wheaten goodness and some scoops of eggy bottom scramble, and brought it to the back room to find a table.

Now, I'm not sure what true bread pudding is supposed to taste like, but I'm fairly certain this was not that. I can also say that I would not rather have eaten said "true" pudding by said virtue. In my pudding, the bread was half toasted and hardened, half soggy and eggy. The custard had fallen through to the bottom and been scrambled as it sat in the hot tray, and a sticky, syrupy sweetness infiltrated the delicate bread and egg. It was tough and chewy, crunchy, and airy, yielding and soft, juicy and sweet; it was marvelous. I grabbed those wheaten rolls with my hands to crunch, slurp, and sop my way through the mess with and without the aid of a fork. My hands got sticky as my stomach got happy. I felt a comfort all through me that only something momentary delicious could provide. It was not so satisfying in an "oh, I could eat this forever and be happy" sense, but rather in that I was hungry, and this was filling in some sort of unknown void, while still leaving room to take in nutrients afterwards.

(Matzoh break)
MMmmm.

So then I was free to look for lunch, and the fact that the sandwich line was long and overwhelming was okay; I got a salad with italian dressing and red kidney beans instead, which I didn't finish because it was cold and underwhelming. Then for dessert, I got hot chocolate and a side brownie*****. On my way out, I made 2 wimpy PB&Js and grabbed 2 chocolate covered Hood bars and 2 red deliciouses :). What better munches for a rainy, girly :x day?

*applause*
*bows*

*The dining hall is also open from 8 to 9am on weekdays, but getting started eating that early makes me feel like the day drags on longer- I feel much more comfortable orienting my lonely stretches of solitude after the day's demands are over. It reopens from 11:30am to 1:30pm, then again from 5pm to 7pm, which happens to coincide with my night class schedule in a way most would find deeply dissatisfying.
**Random caps locks are like instant (hold on, ice cream bar break- my auntie's visiting) "OH YEAH". And Anthony Hopkins is a ballin' actor in the way Jack Nicholson is- you believe them probably because they're pretty much just being themselves*. Anthony is not the only "the man", but is one of the elite who deserve the tag.
***Newman's Own Organic Coffee and hot chocolate from the not so virtuous but oh-so-delicious hot chocolate/cappuccino maker.
****a very witty "Meet Joe Black" reference.
*****a side brownie is neither the lightweight middle of the pan nor the hearty, emotionally supportive corner piece, but rather has one lone strip of meatiness, for those times when you crave just a touch structure.

*Themselves-Eating Homework

P.S. While editing, I ate the other PBJ, ice cream bar, and a fourth matzoh sheet. I have my eye on the apples. Stay tuned for an explanation of why the heck I'm eating passover Matzoh.
